You are 100 percent correct, I was being obtuse, good word. I do see it in the young guys, Suicide Boys is a group I enjoy from time to time. The raw energy of the new school trumps the old school, no doubt about it. But the thing that bugs me is the way that energy is channeled. Take Gravediggaz, they had that sort of kill em energy, but it was soaked in the "real rap" style. I hate to call it real rap because its dismissive, but whatever. Gravediggaz still had lyrical skill, beats too match.
Carti has the aggressive energy, Scott is another one, Suicide Boys, but only Suicide Boys pays homage to "real rap". And even they just bit Bone Thugs flow, but that is evolution of music and I understand that. The new school seems to be devolving into the most basic part of what rap is, from the beats, to the lyrics, to the themes. That is what I am trying to fight against. Everybody had their club hits, Big Papa, Mo Money Mo Problems (which is a terrible song), but they still had that old school flavor.
Rap lyrics are the only thing that makes rap unique, I guess in terms of "vibe". Metal trumps rap in aggression, punk even does too. Jazz trumps just to "chill" or "beats to study to". You could name any genre for a feeling of sadness. If you want to feel like your cock is 14 inches big, there isn't a better genre than rap, I will say that. But that is besides my point, raps totally unique in the fact that the lyrics have to be done in rhyme, and you can't just say the same shit over and over. The new school is breaking those rules though. This paragraph is more subjective than anything I have said before, wanted to mention that.
Now is this raps fault? No, I put the blame mostly on rap fans who didn't autsiticaly rage about the shit that is coming out today, like I am now.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk. Here is a picture with my wall of text.
