I'm currently designing a huge autistic kirby air ride ruleset to subject my irl friends to. The main idea is that it takes advantage of the fact that the game lets you adjust each player's speed using the handicap feature.
>air ride mode
>I printed physical cards of each machine
>before each race we deal 3 random cards to each player
>we also have a deck of "trait" cards that vary from terrible to positive that impose further house rules such as "you cannot quick spin"
>traits are randomly dealt to machines before selection
>you can fuse together machines you have acquired over the course of the event to get many traits on a single machine
>your handicap is determined by the amount of traits on your machine, so you end up with tons of traits, both positive and negative
