I grew up with most (local) descriptions having them be sunken in and yet bulging out of the skull, with a manic or ruthless look in the eyes. The large bug-eyed ones are generally from the species-inspired one, but I still think they’re cool in their own way. Really when it comes to Chupa there’s myriad ways to approach it; some reports even described it being able to walk upright, having human hands or even take flight. To me I always viewed it as having thick, leathered skin marked with sparse hairs and quills, and looking like some diseased, unnatural monster that only outwardly resembles a dog-lizard thing. Maybe I do like them more than Mothman, now that I think about it. I just think they’re sick.
Pic related was one of the unfinished Chupas, scrapped because I couldn’t get a good angle going on the body. But I really liked it’s face. Plus even if the Chupas that I knew never had anything like it, I still think weaponized prehensile tongues are cool as hell.
