I actually do like Andrew's performance.
IMO the only thing saving those movies are the actors, they really elevate the material.
Meanwhile the actual script is fucking awful.

>Ben chastises Peter for being selfish when he's actually helping Connors cure cancer or whatever (an event which directly leads to Ben's death btw)
>Peter creating the Lizard makes the "with great power comes great responsibility" messaging worthless because now he IS actually responsible for the threat
>Ben fighting some random guy who happened to drop his gun and wasn't a threat to anybody is completely retarded
>the sequence where Lizard finds out Spidey is Peter and attacks him at school is 100% fucking pointless because he doesn't accomplish anything there and Spidey doesn't even defeat him, he just leaves to go continue his evil plan
>there's multiple scenes where Peter just uses his powers out of costume and somehow nobody knows he's Spider-Man, including the crowd of people watching him fight Gwen's dad on the street unmasked
>there's straight up no reason given for why Connors turns evil nor why he saves Peter at the end, I guess we're meant to assume the Lizard DNA is making him crazy? But he spares Gwen in the climax which I'm pretty sure you're supposed to take as him still having an affinity for her, so he's clearly not fully insane
>Peter finds out Connors is the Lizard in a scene where he goes to meet him in his lab, Connors tells him he needs to be alone and Peter has to leave the lab, then CONNORS is the one who leaves the lab, giving Peter the opportunity to snoop around and discover the lizard rat.
>this is less a script issue and more an editing issue but there's a scene where the audio is clearly from another scene that they're just playing over some B-roll of Connors and passing it off as his internal monologue and it's hilarious
