this is why i can't side with house, he's smart overall but has no idea what he's talking about here. without FTL travel + a telescope powerful enough to identify potentially habitable exoplanets his plan is a massive waste of time and resources. all his colonists are going to spend 50 thousand years in cryosleep only to wake up and discover they've landed on various barren rocks with no oxygen. if his plan was simply to reindustrialize the mojave he'd be the objective best pick, but his space fetish makes him a retard who can't be trusted with the future
