As I remember it from the first game, the Sleeping God was meant to save the world or whatever, but instead turns people crazy for whatever reason. The protagonist is sent on a mission to kill the Sleeping God in order to stop its corrupting influence, but has to fight her way through her former brothers and sisters to get there a they've already been corrupted. The reason everyone you fight looks like a girl is because everyone in the future looks androgynous. Pretty sure there was an actual reason for it, but I can't remember
