I started Beyond right after the first game and it feels a bit off, it's no longer an elegant and honest boomer shooter. There's now tutorials, characters, lore, weird fucking repair and skill-up shit, multiple guns for each slot, environments are no longer empty-ish boxes and it all feels slower. I feel kinda bad for not liking it as much cause it is a better game, but it feels like some fragment of The Citadel's SOVL was replaced by the increased complexity. I'm sure I'll get used to it though. Also the axe feels like absolute shit now, which is a shame, I loved cutting multiple red priests in half with one swing.
Also, Tycho made me understand /ss/fags for a moment man, there's something about his design that just clicks.

Movement is largely the same. 2's gunplay is EXTREMELY autistic but that can be turned off, while 1's is more traditional with the exception of tube magazine weapons which you reload one cartridge at a time.

Frankly beautiful game: coomerstuff aside, the gunplay felt so good and the little autism with attachments and ammo types and reloads and body parts flying around and all that hidden shit in levels just made it feel right.

Tactical on the harder difficulties makes enemies much better shots, they will pin you down behind cover and force you to peek, throw grenades and plan ambushes.

Beat the first game today, I liked the setting and atmosphere and good use of royalty free music. I do wish the game had more mid-range weapons though, it kind of sucked just how quickly you lost accuracy and there was no dedicated weapon that utilized energy ammo either, only the autorifle secondary.
Somehow the starting pistol ended up being my favorite gun, it never truly felt useless, I wish more games did that sort of thing. The only weapon I could never truly find a use for was the Flechette SMG.
