I believe ultra violent/gory scenes are disgusting and ruin what could otherwise be good games. I think I would've enjoyed the gameplay in pic related, I bought it for cheap when it was on sale, but I stopped playing after seeing some of the glory kill animations because it just made the experience unpleasant for me.

I'm not some puritanical who thinks we need to protect the children or whatever, I just think that heavily gory and extremely violent scenes are gross. I see it as perverse and almost fetishistic - to me it is not dissimilar to just randomly scattering hardcore scat scenes throughout the game. It adds nothing to the experience and only serves to appease people with bizarre fetishes.

I don't necessarily think extreme violence should be banned in games, but if you do enjoy these types of scenes I think there is probably something wrong with you. I am not against violence/gore in video games as a whole, but I think that it needs to serve a purpose. Here, and in games like mortal kombat, I think it is nothing more than pornographic. Games like tekken and halo are examples of games in the same genres but with what I consider to be an acceptable level of violence/gore. Players who push for and enjoy things more like MK/Doom are perverse.
