A couple of years back my (older) sister and I were once discussing our experiences in high school and at one point I said that while other high-schoolers in our country can be annoying and bothersome, on average they were decent and okay to deal with. This upset her and when I tried to probe a bit further into why she thought otherwise, she teared up, rushed to the bathroom, and locked herself in there for a few minutes. I really had no idea until that point that she was put through something nasty enough to bring her to tears a decade later and I felt like a massive piece of shit for opening those emotional wounds for her. Still have no idea about what exactly went through and I don't think I'll ever know since I absolutely do not want to cause a reaction like that from her ever again, but it made me realize that my statement might have held true for teenage boys, but maybe not for the girls.

In retrospect, the only fight in my class that got the cops involved was a catfight. Should have re-calibrated my rosy misunderstanding of the fairer sex back then.
