The magic system in Archmage is one of the best things about the story that doesn't have all that much else going for it. Even so, I know some posters in this thread can't grasp how well the schools of magic are blended with the plot, as evidenced by the accusation that they "come out of nowhere."
Besides being an interesting and creative collection of magical disciplines, each given time in the story according to their weight, it also has the distinction of laying out the magic system that the show actually uses years before episodes like All Bottled Up did.
