It's not the politics that people love about TPM, it's the world. Droid armies, majestic dynasties an underwater civilisations, pod racing, expert Jedi in their prime for all their brilliance and inflexibility. The film lacked spice. Its characters weren't gripping like Luke, Han and Leia. But the pieces were there for things that built the Star Wars world that not only captured people's imagination, but gave stories which did live up to the prequel trilogy's promise.
