What is the point of the downpour and blizzard inclemencies other than to make the game look like shit?

I get that, in theory, you or the monster could get hit by lightning in the sandtide. You need a cool drink for much more of the map during firespring. That makes sense even though they have minimal impact on gameplay.

But the other two don't even seem to do anything. I need a hot drink in like three areas during a blizzard and the downpour just makes everything dark and gray with no gameplay impact.
