I'm willing to compromise. Some mechs, bipedal, 2-3m tall, very bulky, proof against up to 14.5mm AP, advanced sensors, modular weapon loadouts (heavy machine guns, grenade launchers, rocket pods), auxiliary manipulator hands, fully NBC protection, mobility like a running human (no endurance limitation (until the battery runs out)).
That could still be cool I think
