could not find anything that says 1 in 3 are a victim of rape.
I saw a 1 in 5 number for women and a 1 in 7 number for men. But I'm not sure how useful this is when we're talking about this because this is for dating. It says that half of these rapes for men and women occur as a minor... You know when you're not even allowed to use dating apps.
I did however see that. 1 in three women are victims of physical violence or sexual violence by an intimate partner. Majority of them being obviously men, this is correct. But now let's think about that then... So 1 in 4 men are also victims of sexual or physical violence in their lifetime by an intimate partner. The majority of those instances being women.
It looks like intimate partner violence happens just as much on both genders.
So just think you got 100 pools of water there and 30% could be poisonous. The rest may be good to drink or unpleasant to drink but still drinkable. Meanwhile in the desert you have 3 pools to drink from and one of them is poisonous while the other too may be drinkable or funny tasting. Still sounds like there's a good chance you can still get some poison in the desert as a man.
I think there's just a great deal of fear with men that women experience. I say specifically women, because Grindr is a smorgasbord for fucking. Even though LGB individuals are even more likely than cis men or cis women to be victims of sexual violence. It speaks to more fear than anything else, because we live in a much safer time, sans COVID, but for some reason we're all much more afraid of each other despite that. Men however seem not that terrified of other people even though men are 80% the victims of homicide, there's not much of a push to say men should not go out at night alone.
Something about all of this tells me there's more of a psychological phenomenon than legitimate caution. Sorta like how everyone thinks if you're in a bad (black) neighborhood you're immediately going to get shot
