If you ACTUALLY DO YOU RESEARCH and look at what the World Alamanac actually says (like pic related, from the 1948 edition), it will say the data is based off of the last available data from 1939. It extrapolates from there based off of normal population growth

The World Almanac does not cite a source for its figures. It did not conduct a census, it did not contact an organization that did a census, and it did not go through records
