the Scientific Method has not been a tool of great insight (yet) when probing this type of stuff but it's not always from lack of trying or access to funding
Imo this is sort of thing is by design that we're not intended to have access to those details yet. Humanityis still in its early days and we have lot of growth to do before we have access to some physical artifact that is falsifiable, undeniable proof of the metaphysical. It's something that happens at a subjective individual level at this moment in history

Yeah but that only explains some of the physical mechanisms involved, those are just the surface level details that don't help us much to understand what the thing we call consciousness even is
