One of the things I hate about RED is that it isn''t written like "he said, she said", etc. 2020 books has this narrator thing where it is clearly in the views of some gonk, not some omniscient narrator, with some clear breaks from that like Firestorm/Stormfront for the Ref behind the scenes.
In RED, everything is treated as 'canon', no ifs and buts. The issue with Professor could be fixed as him having a section where he goes "i lived a long life already, no need for me to treat my disease" instead of some omniscient narrator going "lol its impossible to treat his disease" when fucking Adam survived from being a literal meatbag and other people surviving from worse brain issues.
The Edgerunners book is slowly fixing that by leaving Adam's state up to the Ref, but that is a lot to fix
