I'm tired of people saying this nonsense. That game is one of the few games that actually tries to have Sonic, Tails and Knuckles actively work together. They didn't do an amazing job with either trio (likely because they couldn't implement everything in the game), but they never tried to erase anything. Both trios always coexisted.
