I just finished Sonic Underground. Over 40 episodes and no plot progression. The kids do not reunite with their mother and we don't learn much about her aside from the fact that she can teleport and seemingly has access to eternal youth(???)
For some reason there is an arc where Dingo transforms into a giant blob from eating a chaos emeralds.
Tons of unnecessary fan service scenes and this isn't even a fucking anime.
I don't hate Manic and Sonia like I hate most western OCs. They're just... Inoffensive. Manic stole most of the western garbage character traits Sonic usually gets, but they don't make Sonic more ic to compensate.
Sonia being a stuck up rich girl stereotype is refreshing after all the girlbosses we have been getting and that's terrible.
The episode plots do carry over to each other as if this was a series with main arcs but they aren't cohesive. An episode will start with Sonia lathering her titties in lotion before before introducing a new villain who eats money and then the third act of the episode will actually be about stopping Eggman from forcing people to bake pies. It's like the show was written by AI.

I think this is the first show to start claiming Sonic is afraid of water. He fucking isn't. Stop. He just can't swim.
I rank it higher than Sonic X and SatAM because the fandoms for those shows need to be humbled. Sonic X does not reflect the GAMES. SatAM was NEVER a Sonic show.

Underground ended on a whimper. Sonic Universe was supposed to resolve it but Sega rejected the idea halfway through. The fanmade Archie preboot had a decent idea to wrap it up, but in all honesty Sonic would go "hey fuck Robuttnik but y'know what also fuck Monarchy, Sonia can have that fucked-up shit if she wants, Manic you can do whatever but I'm gonna wind off so see ya."
Also I swear some of the background character look as out of place as the minor STC characters, but if you look at the show we almost got instead (Sonic Sisters in Space) it suddenly makes sense.

Not sure if it is an unpopular opinion but I really do like Infinite's design. It's such a shame that he is an awful character and an even worse game. I think a fair amount of people share this opinion, his design is recognizably villainous, sharp and contrasting, his long white hair also gives some limited Sephiroth vibes. Now I'm convinced that interaction in TSR is as meaningless as the Blaze Crisis City line in Generations. In Colors DS, Sonic implies that Silver and Blaze must have worked together before. You could headcanon he's just playing matchmaker and playing his cards super close to his chest I guess.

I just realized that toeless feet is likely just due to graphical limitations at the time. Toes would've looked clunky on Saturn/Dreamcast, so the artists tried designing the feet without them, liked it better, and it stuck around. Sega didn't care to mandate this until Archie reboot.
