I have like 125 shares of WMT, plus two long dated calls. I wanted to write a CC to put the 100 shares to work, but we have an ER on the 21st, and I've learned to avoid those because of the volatility (unless you're doing condors or whatever, which I'm not).
So the next best option was writing a 20 delta call ($100 strike) for the previous expiry, which is the 15th. Based on volatility, 102.33 is one SD away, but still unlikely to reach it. But looking at the charts, it looks like it'll trend back up to around $99 over the next few days ... which means I need to wait before writing the CC, and by that time there will be little premium to gain ($50 today, probably $20 by then), and then only a handful of days before the ER, and it's possible it'll break past the green high support line I have here, and if that happens, it'll indicate an uptrend.
tldr, know what you're doing with options and be patient
