I think the really stupid thing at the end of the day is why was Microsoft so insistent on leaving the fate of this series in the hands of someone who was very evidently burned out on it and didn't want anything to do with it anymore?
Like I get it, Gregg never liked to sit in one place or genre for too long and wanted to experiment with new shit every other game, that's basically the mentality that got us Banjo-Kazooie after he worked on DKC1 and DKC2 back to back. The difference is that at least Rare at the time was willing to have separate teams handle the remaining DK platformers for the rest of their duration with Nintendo. I just don't get why the same couldn't have happened with Banjo while Gregg fucked off to make whatever he wanted the same way, in a way it already kinda happened back in the aughts where Rare's handheld team made Grunty's Revenge whereas Gregg/the Banjo team were making fucking Grabbed by the Ghoulies on Xbox.
