And yeah ik what sort of movies (and TV) you're talking about. I've seen both my parents watch them, but mainly my dad. Like oftentimes B/W, and taking place during China's early modern history - not ancient with emperors and stuff, but like the 20th century-ish.

Sometimes it goes really well, like with Peru and their "chifa". Other times? Not so much.

Wonder if there are any examples of inauthentic bastardized versions of food that are BETTER than the originals.
