I can understand that. The feeling of movement and flow in FE compared to its competitors is why I stick with FE over its competitors. Pair-Up is a bit clunky (especially if use trade strats to setup the right weapon after using a different one for Attack Stance), but it does play into that strength. And just because there are strong options, weak ones have their place too.
I just think juggernauting in FE needs more counters on average. The series just needs more active abilities and things a unit can do that makes them feel like unique help on the field. It is why I like 3H and can play Engage on occasion, their focus on player-phase mechanics makes up for the loss of flexibility Pair Up provided. And systems like Linked Attacks and Chain Attacks helps positioning feel more active and engaging and more respectful to a unit's build than what Pair Up did.
