It is worth pointing out that in terms of "big budget home console platformers", K. Rool hasn't been long for that gone when you think about it, in that in the nearly 30 years since DK64 there's only been about four of them, the first of which was Jungle Beat which went out of its way to avoid any pre-existing DKC elements like the plague and didn't even include Diddy or Cranky so it may as well not count. So in that sense it's just Returns and Tropical Freeze he missed out on.
