Been having a depressing thought lately.
For years and years I've been very passionate about video games, and the only reason I can make my own now is because I was able to get over my addiction of video games. Now if I end up making a really good game, one that some people will want to spend hours upon hours playing, then in essence I am robbing them of their potential, and their time that they could be using to do something productive and get away from video game addiction. In the other hand, if nobody enjoys my game, then that's also gonna be depressing. It would be different if more people would get inspired to make their own game from playing a great game, but most consumers only feel "inspired" to spend even more time on the game.
