John Romita, Jr. has been at the company for decades and has been drawing Spider-Man probably more than anyone. And before him his dad was also one of the most recognizable and long-running illustrators attached to Spider-Man comics, to the point where he burned himself out. As a result of his dad's burnout JRJR may have decided to put in less effort as he's gotten older. Nobody really likes his art these days but it's basically impossible to get rid of him unless he personally decides to fuck off.
