I once tried making braids with green stuff, even posted it here once. Mediocre effect at best but on my defense I'm not experienced with sculpting at all. Probably should make wireframe first with some more rigid material and build around it. When I watched recently videos on making anime figurines with clay artist indeed harden core elements first and add layers of material over existing ones.
