What really kills me about Dragon Age: Origins is that I thought it would set a new standard in CRPGs where you actually got a prologue section that varied depending on race or at least class choice, because man that was super awesome. Then not only did it not become the standard, even Dragon Age itself abandoned it. Truly tragic.
Imagine how good Rogue Trader would be, for example, if you could play through a prologue where you actually play as a Crime Lord setting up a heist, or a Commissar executing traitors and leading the charge against the xenos, or a Navy character where you get to command a major space battle, or a Psyker going through the experience of being Sanctioned, and afterwards you carry unique bonuses from the experience into the main game after you're called up to serve as a potential Rogue Trader. It would've been so good.
