For my thoughts on why I believe there is a higher “level” to reality. The idea of the Demiurge as “evil” isn’t an across the board thing in gnostic teachings, and the term Demiurge as applied to the Creator of this realm comes from Plato who did not see the Demiurge as evil, although perhaps imperfect. I’m not a Christian so this isn’t my main concern, but the association of Yaweh with the Demiurge is fair play in my book as to why a supposed universal god would need blood sacrifices and encourage tribal genocide. The idea that a higher form of government ality “Spirit” which is our true consciousness rather than the mechanical effects of biology, neuro transmitters, hormones and firing synapses shaped by environment and genetics, appeals to me. There has been a lot of research on the theory of reincarnation, and while obviously the subject of much religious dogma as well, I think the idea that consciousness not simply ending with the death of the biological vessel certainly leaves open the possibility that our consciousness could be “recycled” by the universe in some fashion. This obviously brings into question the subject of free will, and wether or not the angels, demons, helpers guides and gods on the “other side” which are often encountered in NDEs and other forms of spirit encounters, have our best interests at heart, and what role if any these beings play in the cyclee of birth, death, and reincarnation if in fact it does exist.
