He was one of the biggest detractors to the Stop Killing Games movement, to the point where Ross had to call out each one of his points and show how utterly wrong he was. The thing is Pirate Software has a much bigger influence from Ross and was spewing misinformation about the movement which pushed away bigger content creators from supporting at as they saw him as an authority on game development. When it was proven Thor is an even worse programmer than YandereDev, that's when it all started to fall apart.

Had Thor not thrown his hat in the ring over Stop Killin Games or had just backed down and apologized and said "I was wrong, I misunderstood", he could have avoided this entire fiasco. But as others pointed out, he kept doubling down.

It's long but if you really want to understand I'd watch Ross's "The end of Stop Killing Games", where essentially he feels the movement is over because at that point, they couldn't get over 500K signatures, and Thor's "input" was so destructive that Ross spends about 30 minutes breaking down each of his points. This is around the time everyone started dogpiling Thor and gave full support to the Stop Killing Games movement.
