I just started the first game after buying the first 3 on steam. Its incredibly fun. I don't know the proper word for it, but I like "attrition" aspect of the game. Going into the floors and slowly running out of resources and pushing your luck to go an inch further. Gives a real rush. Especially since you have to plan for the trip back too.
Only real complaint I have is that the first 2 floors set up the expectations that many dead ends will have some kind of event, good or bad, at the end of them. But that's not really the case. I did recently discover secret passages through the walls. Love the mapping stuff.
