>Would like to track it someday
honestly, bad idea.
a car can either be good for the track or good for the road, not both.
if you start down this path, soon you'll have spent $$$ on parts to make your c6 more track capable, and in the process you'll ruin it as a daily.
my advice, buy a simrig instead. much cheaper, you get to race way more cars on way more tracks, you can race any time you want, etc etc. but really, the main thing is that its MUCH cheaper. i really can't stress enough just how expensive IRL motorsport is.

yes please

> From what I can tell it only affects circuit racing where there are high g forces that slosh the oil around in corners.
correct.
and yes, you can sorta work around it by altering or replacing the oilpan
but if you wanna seriously race, you do need dry sump.

>less than 1k on jackstands
yea, remember that simrig i was talking about? for 1k, you're like halfway there.
and trust me, if you start down this path, you won't stop at the sump. next will be track tires, or maybe you'll realize that your seats are a joke when dealing with track level cornering, or that your suspension is just way too soft, or how much hp you can get if you install a rattly single mass flywheel, and how about a nice LSD, or any of the 1000s of other mods you can do that will legitimately make your car faster and more fun around the track, but will also ruin it for daily use.

>makes a weird rattle near the shifter
don't know anything about c6s, sorry.
but its a 15 year old car, so its fair to assume it would hugely benefit from a comprehensive, engine+tranny out, replace every gasket/vacuum/hose/plastic bit, refresh all suspension components sort of service. oh and a good detail too
my advice, find whatever is the biggest/best forum/community for your car, learn what all the common failure points are, what all the perishable parts are, and get to it
