For better or worse the USSR is a chapter of the history and just part of what Russia is now. One thing you gotta realize is that this mentality will pop up frequently when cataclysmic events change a society. Any major revolutionary historical figure that you look at that came to define a country and reshape that country in their image….there were contemporary people who were against them and had a totally different vision what that country should have been and felt that what they did had destroyed that country/culture.
