From what I remember, he started off not minding Drakkon (seeing as he did a couple of trailers, then voiced the character in games a few times, and sounded pretty hype when chatting it up) but the overwhelming popularity of the character compared to the normal version is what pissed him off.

He was a 'special consultant' (and a quick google lead me down a LONG rabbit hole over who ACTUALLY came up with the idea and overall plot) on Soul of the Dragon, a PR comic about the future of Tommy which ends with him unable to morph ever again (but his son gets the dragon shield on his future SPD uniform).
I was never really a Tommy fan. I always thought Billy and Jason were cooler.
