The hype died the moment we learned it was going to be a BotW rehash with Banjo zooie Nuts and Bolts mechanics as the big selling point. At face value there is nothing wrong with that, Majora's Mask can to some extent be considered a rehash of OoT too, in fact it's smart to reuse assets but 2 things to consider: we waited 6 years for...this? And second it was sold for $70 as if it was some sort of brand new premium Zelda experience. Imo if it has been released 1-2 years after BotW and sold for $40-50 as a sequel/different take on BotW it would have been fine but what we got was Nintendo pissing in a glass and expecting us to treat it as fine French wine.
