During the later part of Serek's rule, that began to change. Conflicts between the Adeanists and Corinites were steadily escalating. It was only a matter of time until there would be some inciting incident that'd turn animosity between the two faiths into outright war. The Grandmaster was well aware of this, and thus did his best to prepare the nation for war. He vastly expanded recruitment, establishing firebrands in every state he could. He promised the Green Orcs freedom if they fought (...and died) for Corin's righteous call. He also made sure that Corintar would be the one to lead the upcoming war by declaring himself (and all his successors) to be "The Divinely Inspired Defenders of the Most Evident Faith of Corin".
At last came 1582, when the sinners of Wesdam proclaimed Adean to be Castellos' "rightful" successor. This was it, the one chance of the Corinites to gain hold of the most important political entity in Halann. Not a day after the Emperor made his proclamation, Serek called all the faithful of Cannor to unite under the Corintari-led "Corinite League" and prove Corin's right to rule by crushing the heretics on Halann. The league grew in an unprecedented speed, and had they struck then, perhaps the official faith of the empire would've been Corinite.
Alas, Serek waited for more faithful to follow his lead. The heretics used this time to form a mighty league of their own, and Corin's certain triumph started to look much more even sided.
In the end, Serek never got to see the greatest Holy War in history, for in 1484, death had peacefully taken him in his sleep. The longest reigning and one of the most accomplished leaders Corintari history, yet having departed in such a crucial time. He outlived his initial choice of heir, a woman by the name of Castena; his other choice as successor, a young but talented military cadet and clergyman Dustyn Fludd, would lead the faithful to victory. That was what everyone was praying for, at least.
