>4 complex gears with spline drives and a precision shaft that all need heat treating for $108 to consumer
>made by third parties that already put a markup on them
They're 100% made in China at the least, no US shop could make all that for that price unless they're shitting out millions of them. The material cost alone for all of that is in the $30-40 range unless you're buying steel by the semi-truck.
