If you make a phase coil mech, an assassin one, or a flanking side sniper, or wings of smaller ones meant to be hyper specialized ones to synch with others (while following technological limitations) you're operating with the mechs as a purpose and right within the setting, making them the line is just self masturbatory "I want a mod of women anally pounding my ass because I want them" without a deep justification. In fact, without any justification at all.
