+Forgot one random tip: some toys work great as relatively cheap, accurate, everlasting references that you can freely touch and place so that you thoroughly appreciate their volumes, thinking of cars, dndish miniatures (which are also very inspiring for character desing and armor/clothing references), 'legos' for buldings, etc
