Crowley's Letter on June 14, 1946
Parsons had written to Crowley on June 10, updating him on the "success" of the operation and his partnership with Marjorie Cameron.
Crowley's letter on June 14, 1946, was his reply. Far from being congratulatory, Crowley's tone was one of deep suspicion and concern. He was particularly wary of L. Ron Hubbard, whom he considered a charlatan who was taking Parsons for a ride.
In the correspondence around this time, Crowley famously wrote to another associate about Parsons:
"Apparently he has got a Moonchild. I get a sardonic grin out of it to think of you having been gypped by a cheap crook. It is the old story of the Spaniel and the unprincipled Con Man."
In his direct reply to Parsons on the 14th, Crowley expressed his doubt about the entire affair, criticizing Parsons' methods and warning him about his associations. He felt Parsons had lost his way in undisciplined spiritualism rather than following Crowley's structured system of Magick.
