You can play a 5 mana commander, it just has to be a nice goodstuff top-end. If you try to build around your 5 mana commander, you're going to have a miserable time. Have played Sen Triplets forever and the problem I see with other Sen Triplets decks is running garbage like Paradox Haze that only does anything if they stick around instead of running on-board protection and other must-answer threats.
Think people who started playing after the tuck rule change never build decks like this.
