I wrote a love poem that I found the courage to read to her, and as she graced me with a chaste kiss on my forehead. At this moment, I received the confirmation that music was my calling."
"Ah, so that's how you got you got your knack for serenading kelpies." Board comments.
You didn't only do that, but now that you think about it, you don't believe your companions noticed that you made the kelpie bigger back then. They were focused on other stuff, and the change on a monster mare was subtle enough they probably didn't register it.
"Ah, but I also had it for me that my luth is made from salvaged dryad wood." You say. "Every time I play, she comes alive and it is her magic I use in part."
"Really now?" Blueberry gives you an incredulous smile. "Looks like plain old spruce wood to me. Dryad wood is never that straight, and it doesn’t withstand being smoothed out to that extend without losing its properties."
"Erm… I mean…" You stumble on your words while Board chuckles. "D-do you happen to be an expert in dryad wood, now?"
"Well, one book I read talked about dryads among other stuff." Blueberry nods. "It was in one of Wanderquill's travel journals. She's a famous loretrotter who writes about her adventures in great details. I really like her works. More than heroics, she loves to discover new ponies, cultures and legends and she describes everything that catches her eyes in length in her journals. I really like the way she writes stuff. Lots of ponies find her books boring because they seek thrilling tales of adventures, but for somepony like me who gets fascinated by encyclopedias and the likes, this is just that but with a welcome added bit of plot to it!"
"Heh, sounds like that Wanderquill lass is kind of your idol or something." Board comments.
"W-well…" Blueberry can't completely hide her embarrassment. "She is one of my inspirations for going on adventures I suppose…"
On that note, the three of you decide to take it to the tavern. As promised, the comely barmaid you met this morning has some good drinks prepared for the victorious adventurers, and you all share a couple mugs of honey-sweet ale.
As you do, you wonder about the possibility of… well, offering Board to make tonight's rest even more pleasant for both of you. From what she told you, she doesn't seem like the kind of pony to follow you on an adventuring trip around the country, but maybe it could change, or maybe it doesn't matter. Adventurers, by nature, rarely settle down and more often make the best of the many chance encounters they seek out.
