There is some kind of mental illness that prevents certain people from admitting they are wrong, and they will try to maintain their position even when it is completely illogical to do so.
From what little I have followed of this case, the guy gave his opinion on how the initiative would make cheaper games prohibitive because of government regulation. It turns out that, although this criticism is valid against interventionism, it was not valid in this specific case because there was already consideration and response to this line of argument, which the guy did not know because he had not read the details.
Instead of admitting that he made a suggestion without really knowing what he was talking about, the guy decided to double down in an insane way, and he's never going to back down.

NOTE: I saw this happen with my brother, who has some egocentric tendencies. The guy made a mistake in judgment, I told him to back down, but he just preferred to double it down. The guy is now at risk of losing his job, his house, and even custody of his daughter, but he refuses to give up on the same irrational line he took at the beginning because his wounded ego won't allow him to admit he's wrong.
It's insane how stupid people are.
