Because Thor is going to be ultimately in the right once the initiative is inevitably dismissed from the EU parliament.
People either will then switch sides again to shit on Ross, like they did with Karl/Billy Mitchell.
The truth is that places where legislations get passed are far out of reach of the court of the public opinion. A victory cannot be won in sheer numbers and just consensus that it's the "right thing".

Naturally, this would mean all the gacha, lootboxes and cosmetics would be "free" or the new host (of a private server) would be able to adjust the requirements for getting them.

If Ubisoft’s EULA includes a clause requiring users to destroy a game (e.g., upon termination of service or license), SKG could argue that this is disproportionately harsh, especially for physical copies or games that could function offline.

From what little I have followed of this case, the guy gave his opinion on how the initiative would make cheaper games prohibitive because of government regulation. It turns out that, although this criticism is valid against interventionism, it was not valid in this specific case because there was already consideration and response to this line of argument, which the guy did not know because he had not read the details.
Instead of admitting that he made a suggestion without really knowing what he was talking about, the guy decided to double down in an insane way, and he's never going to back down.
NOTE: I saw this happen with my brother, who has some egocentric tendencies. The guy made a mistake in judgment, I told him to back down, but he just preferred to double it down. The guy is now at risk of losing his job, his house, and even custody of his daughter, but he refuses to give up on the same irrational line he took at the beginning because his wounded ego won't allow him to admit he's wrong.

>>714807395Please don't write dumb shit. Software companies license tons of stuff they don't end up owning themselves. This is how modern software development works. You stitch together 3rd party libraries using 3rd party tooling. Bigger gaming companies can have their own engine sure but even then just look at the credits of any game, tons of 3rd party libraries used.
Now the part of the game binary that end up getting installed on a users machine have a set of licenses, but if there is a server side component that the end user don't get, That server software will of course have a completely different set of licenses. This is how you negotiate software licenses.

They could have done like 100 things that would actually give people rights and protect them, but no, they had to come up with this quirky garbage.
>indie devs shouldn't have the right to make certain kinds of games in the EU, only big corporations should have that rightEurofags love having their freedom taken away. They fear the responsibility that comes with it and want the government to solve things for them instead.

>>714810409not that anon but when I see stuff like havok, bink video, and sound stuff like dolby and DTS. There is no way these are free for gaming companies to use? And can distribute freely if the wanted to?

>>714811618You would ask the DPO, whos job it is to ensure compliance.
>>714811493Kind of.
If you make a big game using it then Epic is gonna step in and take their cut, otherwise it's free.

People lie.
That's a truth of the world.
A company doesn't have to tell a DPO what they have the information stored on or show everything. Are you starting to understand how this isn't enforceable?
>>714810887You're thinking of stuff like SpeedTree, fmod, etc. Those are very much NOT free, and only allow you to distribute through being part of a compiled binary (they won't even let you get the source code, unless you specifically ask and pay for it).
>>714795936I ended liking the unalive one or all the euphemisms people came up with to replace kill. Banned from the alive server. He sent him to the shadow realm. Sent him to get milk where my father went. Etc.

>>714812230the DPO works for the company you retard. Well done outing yourself as a moron who is completely clueless about what he is talking about. Ignoring GDPR will gets you sued for millions, the DPO isn't going to risk his job just to not delete a random joes schmos data. It is his ENTIRE JOB
>>714802356I agree though the initiative is correct
>>714812230>Are you starting to understand how this isn't enforceable?gdpr regularly sues companies for breaking data laws, you fags bitching about shit being unenforceable don't ever seem to pay attention that is indeed being enforced

If you want weird censorship. Elden ring doesn't let you put nig so Knight is K***ht. It's retarded so you can't name it Crucible Knight but you can name it CrucibleKunth.
Also Marvel rivals banned Rule34 as in you type " rule34" and it's censored.. Weird censor.
