I really want to like and use something like this, but I have some misgivings about it.
1. I want it to be fully offline
2. I want it to be 100% secure
3. I want it to be portable and reliable in the long run, without losing my notes OR structure.
It has a paid cloud thing, that is even if not enabled at least part of the program.
It isn't open source so who even knows what they could put in each update.
You get to keep your plain text markdown files once it goes bust, but will you have a place to migrate it to structure included?
I really wish I had some kind of journal, personal wiki that is as some guy here said "hierarchical", because that is the way I think for the most part, but still has a tagging system for the random off the top of my head type thoughts I write on a piece of paper.
If it can produce a printable format at some point, even better.
I just don't think I can trust this thing, but I'm at a point where I really NEED something like it.
Considered logseq and joplin, but both are horrid.
Can any privacy schizo vouch for this? Maybe I should just download a personal permission firewall, but even those are hard to trust...
I'm genuinely worried I might type something personal in it that triggers some flag somewhere.
I have an ipad for a "normie device" and tried to write on that one, but soon realized I have too much to write and need searchability to make it worth writing down and some things just don't work that well with handwriting.
I feel like Obsidian has been the solution I've willfully ignored for years for whatever reason my mind came up with.
I got thousands of .txt-s, papers, screencaps of my own writing that I need to organize and "process" to reduce the clutter I have currently.
