>>Well in their lore they-
>Shut up
I'll still tell you anyway.
In their lore around M40 they sent 2 squads from the chapter where sent to investigate a disappeared ordo xenos kill team and the inquisitor leading it.
The investigation lead to a fringe desert world within segmentum Tempestus. When on the orbit of the planet it wad noted that some ruins existed on the planet, and once the 2 squads touched down on the planet they confirmed the presence of ruins to mission command.
The ruins were ancient, crumbling from the centuries of exposure to the elements. However there were still legible carvings on the walls, the symbols intricate and holding a certain air of mystery around them.
When the marines picked up the trail of the kill team it lead to another ruin and then downwards into the crumbling temple. When the marines made contact and found the kill team it was a grizzly sight.
What awaited them was the killteam completely torn apart with blood all over the walls and even ceilings, bolter casings and las shots marks on the walls. They counted the bodies present and noted that the inquisitor and feww other members were not among the dead, meaning they could be alive. A worrying thought seeing the dead kill team members, was it a monster that got them? Traitors which sparked the gruesome conflict?
The marines continue further into the underground ruin to find the remaining members, and after hours of walking and killing few xenos fauna that came in their way and finding the occasional corpse of a dead kill team member, they finally find a giant room, the heart of the complex.
And within they see more bodies, the few members and inquisitor that had escaped the prior conflict.
The inquisitor himself was on top of the pyramid like structure, dead but still posed in a way like he was trying to reach for the artifact on the pedestal.
