Sorry. I've been taught something else. If something is lodged do not remove it as it might have ruptured through an artery or orgn. The object keeps the blood stopped. If you remove it there will be bleeding internal as well as external and it'll definitely worsen the situation.

If you have been impaled, place lots of bandages around the insertion point. Use tape to fix the object and wait for the doctor.
