Hello, i want to put an ac unit in my bedroom since i spend most of my time in there and i want to keep my living room from having from having that much clutter. I am debating between a normal ac unit and a portable one and currently have a portable ac unit since i am a renter and it makes things easier since i dont need to fit anything and its just setup and go. I have read though they arent as efficient as window ac units but it seems like that might be out of date so i have no idea. Anyways. I am looking at this one currently and its like $480. Really good reviews, seems like a powerhouse. Issue is if i run it all day and night like my current one my electricity bill will go up by like $100 minimum every month. I also am not that terribly bothered by the heat its just that whenever anyone comes over their first words are "holy shit your house is hot".

It idles around 80f most days. Sometimes it can get hotter. But my bedroom stays around 70 because the ac unit is in it so i sleep fine. Should i get a better ac unit? It would cost a lot and probably add to my electricty bill each month but at least im not living in a hot ass house. I also am not sure if the extra heat and humidity will damage my apartment and maybe getting a proper ac unit would help with that.
