There is some truth to it. .44 mag is revolver ammo, it's not designed to cycle a semi action. Therefore, not every load will work. It's not like 556 or 9mm that's designed to work in semis. Some 44 loads have the right pressure curve, some don't. People who are too stupid to RTFM and run the wrong ammo will have reliability problems. Like the other anon says, they really like the hotter ammo.
I'm not sure what the point of buying one in .44 mag is though. What's the point of buying an absurdly large meme pistol if you're not going to get it in an absurdly large meme caliber? This is like getting some big musclecar but putting a V-6 in it.
