Formosa Returns to the Fold: Nippon Gains a Province Without Firing a Shot
January 14, 2026
In a stunning move that left Beijing reeling and Tokio and cities across Nippon cheering, Taiwan, or Formosa, has agreed to closer ties than a mere military-economic-trade-diplomatic alliance. They have agreed to become a vassal state of Nippon.
Some politicians in the LDP assured the rest of the PDTO allies that this was not a plan in the works and that it just happened as a natural occurrence. Vietnam and the Philippines, both of whom were occupied by Nippon in the tragic war of 1941, have reason to feel a bit wary of Nippon essentially annexing a fellow PDTO member. But they have no reason to worry. The ties between Taiwan and Nippon go much further than any the tie of any other nation except for perhaps Korea.
Nippon immediately moved to nationalize the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) for security purposes, along with several other defense companies, lest they decided to leave Taiwan for other pastures.
Shina has lodged several complaints over the vassalization of Taiwan, but all they can do is shout into the void. At this stage in the cold war, Nippon barely registers Shina's frequent rants of the evils of capitalism, the West, globalism, and so forth.
Meanwhile, on 2ch, one schizoid poster spent an entire thread theorizing that this was all a "VISUAL NOVEL," in caps lock, too.
Today is a good day in Nippon and Taiwan and the rest of the free world. Taiwan now is in a better position to support Nippon in her inevitable fight against Shina.
